Truckmasters are responsible for sales of Toyota products in an area covering much of the east coast of England almost as far north as the Humber Estuary and including Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. The company has three strategically sited regional depots at Wainfleet, Wisbech, and Norwich.
Each depot is staffed by highly experienced, factory trained engineers, each of which has his own fully stocked service vehicle.
For managing director Graham Elsam and his team, one of the most significant issues facing forklift truck users today is training. "Far too many companies do not give their forklift operatives the training they need", says Graham. "Forklift trucks represent a significant investment in capital equipment and to put a truck in the hands of someone who has had, perhaps, only the most basic on the job guidance is a hudge mistake. Not only is it a risk in terms of personal injury to staff and other warehouse and stores operatives, but, quite simply, a truck operated by a relatively unskilled driver will never be as cost-effective as a machine with a trained person at the wheel."
